Pune realtor pushed off Lohagad Fort by fiancée weeks before ₹17-crore wedding
The scenic Lohagad Fort near Pune, a popular trekking destination known for its historic links to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and stunning views, became the site of a shocking crime on June 18, 2026. 26-year-old Ketan Vishal Agarwal, a director in his family’s prominent real estate business (Success Group) in Pune, died after falling nearly 400 feet into a gorge. What was first reported as a tragic accident during a pre-birthday trek with his fiancée has now been uncovered by Pune Rural Police as an alleged premeditated murder.
Ketan and 20-year-old Siya Goyal had been engaged since February 2026. Their wedding was planned as a grand celebration in November at a lavish palace in Udaipur, with reports suggesting a budget of around ₹17 crore and two chartered planes booked for guests. On the surface, everything looked perfect. Behind the scenes, however, police allege Siya was in a secret relationship with 22-year-old Chetan Babulal Chaudhary for nearly six months. Call records show they exchanged over 2,004 calls and spent 238 hours talking while Siya maintained her engagement with Ketan.

The Timeline of Alleged Conspiracy
Police investigation, led by Superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill, pieced together a chilling sequence using call records, location data, Google search history, CCTV footage, and spot reconstruction at the fort.
- May 31, 2026: Siya took Ketan to Lohagad Fort for the first time — allegedly to scout the location.
- Early June: A planned pre-wedding photoshoot in Bali was cancelled after Ketan’s passport mysteriously disappeared (allegedly torn or hidden by Siya at a cafe en route to the airport).
- June 14, 2026: Second visit to the fort. Siya allegedly tried pushing Ketan off the edge. He survived by grabbing a bush. She reportedly explained it as a reaction to seeing a snake.
- June 18, 2026 (The Fatal Day): On the pretext of celebrating Siya’s upcoming birthday, the couple reached the fort around 10:30 AM. Hours earlier, Siya allegedly met Chetan at a cafe to finalise the exact spot and timing. Chetan arrived early, wearing a black hoodie and shorts despite 33°C heat, face partially covered with headphones on — a detail that stood out on CCTV. When Ketan was near the edge taking photos, police claim Siya and Chetan pushed him together into the gorge. Siya then called Ketan’s family claiming it was an accident.
Ketan’s family, especially his sister, grew suspicious due to Siya’s unusually calm behaviour and lack of grief. Their insistence led to deeper scrutiny. CCTV of the hooded man, digital trails, and inconsistencies cracked the case. Both Siya and Chetan were arrested on June 23 and remanded in police custody till June 29. They are reportedly blaming each other now.
Why Such Betrayal Murders Are Happening More Often in the Modern Era
Cases like this — where one partner allegedly eliminates the other to escape an unwanted marriage — are no longer rare. Sociologists and psychologists point to a toxic mix of factors in today’s India: the clash between traditional family pressures and modern desires for personal freedom, social media-fueled comparison and entitlement, easy access to secret relationships via dating apps and hidden chats, and the heavy stigma around calling off engagements or seeking divorce. Many young people feel trapped between lavish wedding expectations and hidden double lives, with poor mental health support and slow legal processes making separation feel impossible. When communication breaks down and possessiveness takes over, some resort to the unthinkable rather than facing reality or family disapproval.
At VibeMotive, we believe stories like this, though painful, highlight the importance of protecting your energy. Trust your instincts. Prioritise honest communication, emotional awareness, and strong personal boundaries. True connections uplift you — they don’t push you toward the edge.
